Video Creation Basics

  1. Capture individual videos of the planet / object. The individual videos should be long enough to use several thousand frames after sorting out the bad frames. The video should be short enough to avoid smear due to the planet’s rotation. The recommended length of time for the video will depend on your telescope’s focal length and the planet you are imaging. Continue to capture individual videos for the time span of your intended final video.
  2. Process each video to extract a single high quality image. Typical programs used for processing include Autostakkert, Registax, and Photoshop.
  3. Choose the best individual images from this group.
  4. Assemble the images with PIPP to create a single GIF or AVI video.
