Observatory

My observatory is a 30 year-old Sirius Dome. I originally had a new Sirius Dome ordered but as luck would have it, the factory burned to the ground with my partially completed dome inside! Fortunately I was able to locate a used dome in Syracuse, New York. The dome was in good working condition but in dire need of some TLC. It was not only crusted with old bird droppings but also a mixture of dirt, grease and grime; the fiberglass had oxidized and completely lost its shine. What followed was a labor of love that spanned two hot summer months as I cleaned, polished and restored the observatory to near new condition. During the restoration I replaced every piece of hardware including nuts, washers, bolts and bearings. Everything was replaced with stainless-steel.
